COVID-19 Update – Victoria

UPDATED COVID RESTRICTIONS

Lockdown has been lifted across all of Victoria, with some restrictions still in place.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, genU has continued to operate as an essential service.

Our centres and services are open for all participants; however, we will provide these services in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Department of Health and Human services (DHHS). Access to supports may be impacted depending on the service you receive please see below for service-specific information. 

 

Contacting genU 

We have implemented an after hours COVID-19 Hotline available between 5:00pm and 8:00am that is able to answer any specific questions you may have. Contact 1300 558 368.

Please continue to direct business hours queries to your usual contact within genU.

Disability Supports

Community Participation – Group Activities

Participate has resumed with COVID-safe practices:

  • 1 person every 4m2
  • Face coverings must be carried at all times.
  • Face coverings must be worn indoors and outdoors except if at home or if an exception applies

Regular programs may be changed in accordance with Government direction.

Employment Pathways

Employment Pathways services have resumed with COVID-safe practices. 

Individual Support Services

Services will proceed as usual due to being classified as an essential service.

Support Coordination

Support Coordination services have resumed with COVID-safe practices.

Respite

Open for:

  • People whose family, or primary carers are essential workers.
  • People who are unable to remain at home without support.
  • People who, by not attending would result in other supports being required.
  • Not attending respite would result in significant impacts on the person’s mental health, disability or behaviours.
  • All new referrals will be assessed on a individual basis.

Independent Lives

Independent Lives has resumed regular COVID-safe practices. 

Outreach Services

Outreach resumed regular COVID-safe practices. 

Allied Health

The Eric Hart Allied Health Centre is open for face to face health practitioner appointments where permitted. Please call the centre to confirm your appointment.

Eric Hart is only permitted to have 10 clients per facility for exercise classes. Gym and Hydrotherapy group sizes must be reduced for us to deliver our services in compliance with the restrictions.

To comply, there will be:

  • 5 clients in the gym group and 5 clients in hydrotherapy.
  • Physiotherapy, dietitian and exercise physiology one-on-one appointments will still go ahead as planned.
  • Walking group and chair yoga/physio chi groups will also go ahead as planned.
  • Exercise group or Zoom exercise classes – please contact the centre if you are interested in participating.

Please contact the centre to confirm your class prior to attending for services if you have not been contacted by staff.

Mandatory masks, social distancing, QR check in, health attestation check in will continue. 

Clients are able to contact Eric Hart Allied Health on 5220 8472 if there are any queries.

Aged Care Specific Programs

Costa House

Aged Care Respite including day and overnight

Open for:

  • People whose family, or primary carers are essential workers.
  • People who are unable to remain at home without support.
  • People who, by not attending would result in other supports being required.
  • Not attending the centre would result in significant impacts on the person’s mental health, disability or behaviours.

Social support groups are operating in line with restrictions.

ISS Aged Care

All services are considered essential and will continue as rostered.  Community access will be able to occur for one of the five identified reasons as outlined previously. Please call 1800 752 273 and press option 1 between 8am and 4pm.

Home Care Packages

The team will conduct home visits only if essential/urgent.  The team are still available by phone or email.

Mask Wearing

It is a requirement that all genU staff and participants be wearing a mask whilst at a centre or while receiving supports. Participants who are unable to wear a mask must have an exemption from a GP.

If you require a translator or interpreter, please let your local coordinator know, and genU can work with you to access these services.

genU will continue to update you as and when we receive any new information, genU will continue to align ourselves with government directives and all our sites and programs will continue to operate under strict COVID Safe plans including:

  • QR codes at each site for checking in purposes.
  • Temperature checks on arrival
  • Strict hand hygiene
  • Mask wearing.
