COVID-19 Update – Victoria

UPDATED COVID RESTRICTIONS – VICTORIA

The Victorian Government has eased lockdown conditions in Melbourne from 11:59pm on 10 June. However, some restrictions remain.

Melbourne Lockdown
  • There are no restrictions on the reasons to leave your home but staying COVIDSafe remains important.
  • You cannot have visitors to the home.
  • You cannot travel more than 25km from your home except for work, care, study or to travel your nearest vaccination centre. Travel into regional Victoria is not permitted, except for a number of limited reasons – work, education, care and caregiving, and to get vaccinated (if this is your nearest vaccination location).
  • Face masks are mandatory indoors and outdoors.
  • Restrictions follow you, for example if attending a funeral in regional Victoria that funeral must apply metropolitan Melbourne rules.
  • If you have any symptoms, no matter how mild you must get tested for COVID-19.

genU Essential Services

genU will continue to operate as an essential service. Our centres and services will remain open for participants; however, we will provide these services in accordance with State Government directions.

Access to supports may be impacted depending on the service you receive and where you are located. Please see below for detailed information on each service type.

We have implemented an afterhours COVID-19 Hotline – 1300 558 368. This is available between 5:00pm and 8:00am, and we will be able to answer any specific questions you may have.

Disability Supports

Community Participation – Group Activities

METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE

Open for:

  • People whose parents, family, or primary carers who are essential workers.
  • Participants who are unable to remain at home without support.
  • People who, by not attending the centre would result in other disability supports being required.
  • Not attending the centre would result in significant impacts on the participants’ mental health, disability or behaviours.

Regular programs may be changed in accordance with Government direction.

REGIONAL VICTORIA

Centre-based services can continue to operate where it is essential for a person’s health, safety or wellbeing.

Community-based services may resume in accordance with Government directives.

Employment Pathways

All participants can be provided with online or phone supports. Please speak with your local team leader or manager.

Individual Support Services

Services will proceed as usual due to being  classified as an essential service, however community access will revert to be an in-home support unless you are needing to leave your home in accordance with one of the five reasons as directed by government.

Support Coordination

Support coordination remains open – however only essential face to face meeting will occur, with all other support occurring via only or phone support.

Respite

Open for:

  • People whose family, or primary carers are essential workers.
  • People who are unable to remain at home without support.
  • People who, by not attending would result in other supports being required.
  • Not attending respite would result in significant impacts on the person’s mental health, disability or behaviours.
  • All new referrals will be assessed on a individual basis.

Outreach Services

Allied Health

Eric Hart Centre will close for the duration of the lockdown.  Any urgent Allied Health concerns please call the Eric Hart office for assistance.

Aged Care Specific Programs

Aged Care Respite including day and overnight

Open for:

  • People whose family, or primary carers are essential workers.
  • People who are unable to remain at home without support.
  • People who, by not attending would result in other supports being required.
  • Not attending the centre would result in significant impacts on the person’s mental health, disability or behaviours.

Social support groups will close during the lockdown period.  Social support individual will occur remotely only.

ESS Aged Care

All services are considered essential and will continue as rostered.  Community access will be able to occur for one of the five identified reasons as outlined previously. Please call 1800 752 273 and press option 1 between 8am and 4pm.

Home Care Packages

The team will conduct home visits only if essential/urgent.  The team are still available by phone or email.

Mask Wearing

It is a requirement that all genU staff and participants be wearing a mask whilst at a centre or whilst receiving supports. Participants who are unable to wear a mask must have an exemption from a GP.

If you require a translator or interpreter, please let your local coordinator know, and genU can work with you to access these services.
