Supporting young people on their recovery journeys
For some young people, engaging with others and making friends can sometimes feel like a confusing, or even impossible, task. With genU GAMER, socialisation takes place in an environment that is safe and structured, and with like-minded peers, so that the intimidating aspects of socialising are removed.
Our facilitators (we call them “dragon wranglers”) are there to support each interaction, fostering participants’ resilience to stressful social situations and nurturing their confidence to overcome their own social challenges.
If you’d like to know more about how we support the growth of young people, read on below or fill out the form and we will be in touch!
The outcomes of GAMER
At GAMER, participants have a one-of-a-kind safe space that helps them to level up their social skills while feeling respected, supported and heard.
By attending programs in RPGs (role-playing games) like Dungeons & Dragons, video games, hobby art and more, we’ve had participants achieve some incredible outcomes:
- Re-engaging with friends and family.
- Managing the trauma of bullying and isolation to take control of their life.
- Returning to and finishing their education.
- Gaining the confidence to find volunteer work & employment.
- Overcoming social anxiety to attend major events, such as the PAX expo—the biggest gaming convention in the Southern Hemisphere.
Who does GAMER support?
Gamers! Those who are fully immersed in the gaming world, or those who want to start dipping their toes in.
All our participants come from different backgrounds, but often they’re working on their recovery journey. No matter how someone identifies, we can support them.
The diversity of our clients is matched by the diversity of options we provide, ensuring that GAMER can be tailored to suit each person’s needs without compromising on expert guidance and the quality of our program design.
With face-to-face and online formats that also cater to regional, remote and interstate participants, GAMER is positioned as the industry leader for those looking for alternative support outside of traditional NDIS programs.
