A Letter from Reese to feature at St Kilda Film Festival

“A Letter from Reese” Makes The St Kilda Film Festival

We are beyond excited to announce that genU’s short film, A Letter from Reese, has been officially selected to screen online in The St Kilda Film Festival, as part Australia’s Top 100 Short Film Competition (20 – 29 May 2021).

In addition to the online screening as part of the Australia’s Top 100: Moving Portraits, A Letter from Reese has been selected to feature on the big screen at the festival’s opening night on May 20th!

Across 2020, genU helped connect people living in isolation through a volunteer Letter Writing Project. To date, more than 2500 letters have been exchanged. The short documentary, A Letter from Reese, features two of those letters, read by the people who wrote them, Reese and Moira.

Created during Victoria’s COVID-19 lockdown in July-September 2020, A Letter from Reese captures a moment in time when many people, like Moira, were struggling with isolation and the kindness of people, like Reese and the genU Volunteers, made a huge difference.

A big thank you to our cast; Reese, Moira and Angela, the amazing group of genU volunteers, the genU aged care staff and clients. Congratulations to our talented Director/Editor, Fiona O’Connell and cameraman Jake Yeaman for capturing this heart-warming narrative.
