A long-standing partnership between Viva Energy and genU is optimising Viva Energy’s business operations and building careers for people living with disability.
Viva Energy employs over 900 people at the Geelong refinery and values diversity and inclusion in both business and community. Their partnership with genU supports their inclusive goals.
genU has operated the on-site cafe at the Geelong refinery for 13 years, serving 550 Viva Energy staff and contractors daily with a team of 15. In addition, a genU grounds team of nine maintains internal grounds and surrounding vacant land. Plus, the genU Business Solutions team prints and delivers Viva Energy’s quarterly Geelong community newsletter.
“We recognise the vital role that employment has in providing a sense of purpose, achievement, self-identity and financial security for people of all abilities,” Dale Cooper, Executive General Manager – Refining said.
Dale and the Viva Energy team hope to provide opportunities for growth for all their people, including those team members who join from genU Business Enterprises. genU is continuing to provide guidance, wisdom and support towards achieving those outcomes.
“Our Inclusion and Diversity Action Plan includes embracing inclusion opportunities for neuro-diverse people and for people living with a physical disability, and we believe we are a more mature, resilient, capable and enjoyable workplace because of it. Viva Energy also recognises the value that can come from different perspectives and experiences that help our business to grow,” Dale said.
“The genU team members are highly regarded and appreciated by the refining team…and we all really like the food.”
