genU has joined forces with Pholklore in an exciting partnership to create potential skills and jobs for people with disability.
The Geelong-based restaurant has expanded their successful business by leasing space at our Business Enterprises in North Geelong.
“We have been fortunate to secure a partnership that provides a successful, growing commercial hospitality operations with a large commercial kitchen,” Director Employment Services Jaime-Lee Demmer said.
“We are pleased this will also create potential opportunities for supported employees to build career pathways to open employment.”
Pholklore owner Domenic Friend said the partnership was a natural step in the relationship. They have been working with genU for several years.
“We truly believe this partnership through the lease of a commercial kitchen and the opportunity to employ workers with disability is our next phase together,” Domenic said.
“This initiative aims to bridge the gap between commercial businesses and the disability sector, fostering inclusivity and support.”
genU CEO Clare Amies said genU was committed to a proactive approach to its future supported employment model.
“genU believes there will always be a need for some form of supported employment, but also know the future of supported employment will look different to now,” she said.
“We are committed to providing the best environments possible for our supported employees to build their skills, grow careers and move into mainstream employment if that is their goal.”
Clare said the shared values of genU and Pholklore meant the partnership was a logical fit.
“Their directors all have experience within the disability sector and they have expressed their commitment to this being a partnership that can support opportunities for people with disability.”
