The genU Board is aware of an online petition calling for the removal of current CEO Clare Amies. We want to assure you that genU’s support for clients has not been impacted by this petition and the negative media coverage it has generated.
Overall, our employees show unwavering commitment to our purpose and demonstrate our values in their daily work. I want to thank them for continuing to get on with the important work we do, supporting clients, and not letting this matter distract us from our day-to-day services and responsibilities.
We are grateful for the contribution our employees make to creating a positive working environment and helping our clients to fulfill their potential.
Clare Amies has the full support of the genU Board of Directors. Her career started as a disability support worker, so Clare brings a high level of care and integrity to all that she does. This is complemented by incredible business acumen that she has built on in her years across a range of sectors.
In her time as CEO, the organisation has evolved significantly through initiatives such as the Barwarre Gardens retirement village, its Workforce Australia bid success, growth of genU Training and its expansion into Tasmania.
She has undertaken detailed operational reviews, led the organisation through tough decisions and major change, improved compliance rates and reduced workplace injury levels. She continues to advocate for people with disability and older Australians as the disability and aged sectors undergo reform.
Formal governance and reporting requirements ensure the genU Board is well briefed on operational matters and corporate performance.
Clare has held many positions in the health sector, and previously worked at the Department of Justice and Community Safety heading up WorkSafe Victoria, and as an advisor on the bushfire recovery in Victoria. She is a champion for a productive and inclusive workplace where safety, employee wellbeing and strong values are amongst the highest of priorities.
Clare’s strength of character and her commitment to genU and the communities we serve continues to shine. We look forward to working with her as we enter our next five-year strategic planning cycle.
Ingrid Williams, genU Board Chair
