genU’s Employment Pathways team has worked quickly to ensure they can continue to support all their participants throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

genU has given NDIS Participants with Finding and Keeping a Job or School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) funding the opportunity to engage and interact through a variety of virtual options.

Team members have assisted participants to access FaceTime and Zoom for individual or small group sessions. These sessions have included demonstrations in hospitality skills, online safety, acquiring a learner’s permit, communications skills and teamwork — just to name a few!

genU participant Lachlan has been enjoying online hospitality skills tutorials and other employability skills sessions presented by Employment Pathways staff.

Lachlan’s parents are thrilled about how these sessions are helping him learn new skills and remain connected while staying at home:

“To be honest, like most parents we were concerned how Lachlan was going to cope with isolation,” they wrote in an email to Lachlan’s coordinator.

“Your sessions have exceeded our expectations… It’s been so wonderful to see him engage with other participants, and it’s given him a sense of purpose and pride in what he has been achieving.”

Well done Lachlan, keep up your fantastic efforts!
