Rip Curl’s 10-year collaboration with genU Business Enterprises continues to create employment opportunities for people with disability and deliver a positive social impact.

Showbags for ‘surf groms’ the start of a beautiful relationship
“I had a project where I needed to make up showbags for surf groms to be distributed throughout Australia,” Rip Curl’s Australia and New Zealand Distribution Manager, Aaron Dunn said.
genU worked with Aaron to source a team of six to help Rip Curl in their busy distribution centre. The team successfully created 10,000 packs for a junior surfing event, with the support of a supervisor.
Since then, Aaron has continued to use genU’s services, with five crew working with Rip Curl each day, and another 15-20 people working specifically in the warehouse team.
Although one of the largest surfing companies in the world, Rip Curl has stayed true to its humble roots in Victoria’s Surf Coast. Their busy distribution centre in Torquay is responsible for moving products across Australia and New Zealand, staffed by a team of between 50 and 100 people in peak season.
“genU supports Rip Curl by conducting work outside our distribution team’s business as usual tasks,” Aaron said.
“We mainly use genU’s services for reworking product, placing garments on hangers and occasionally request them to pack and dispatch our goods too.”
Work performed at the Torquay site by genU Business Enterprises supported employees allows the Rip Curl retail distribution team to focus on their core functions.
