We’re excited to announce new opportunities for supported employment!
genU Business Enterprises will be expanding out into Rosebud, with multiple jobs available.
The first steps will be to turn the existing horticulture program being offered within genU Participate into a Grounds Maintenance business.
We will also be transforming the Community Kitchen program in Participate into a commercial enterprise selling gourmet jams, produce and hampers.

Supported employment is work model available under the NDIS. A supported role is a job where people with disability receive extra support while they are at work.
Supported employees often receive help to:
- Do their job
- Learn and develop new skills
- Make work goals
These changes will provide meaningful employment opportunities to people living with disability.
These jobs will give you the opportunity to earn a wage, learn new skills, meet new people and be part of your local community.
There is a Support Services team within genU Business Enterprises whose job is to provide support to crew members. You will receive support from them and from your direct supervisor.
Yes, Participate will endeavour to continue running these programs for those who do not wish to seek paid employment.
Becoming a Supported Employee is broken up into a few different stages:
- You fill out an Application Formto express interest
- You complete a 2-day work assessment
- You will undergo Police Check
- You need to provide a current NDIS Plan
If you’re successful in the above check & assessment you will be offered a role within the genU Business Enterprise team.
Your current NDIS package may need to be adjusted, which we can assist you to do. Recent changes to Supported Employment Funding has made this process more streamlined. Supported Employment funding now sits in the CORE which is the same as day programs.
You will need to fill in an application form – this will be handed out at the information sessions.
All crew members must over 18yrs old and be a current client of the NDIS.
Once you have completed the necessary paperwork, checks, assessments and a NDIS booking has been made, we will be in contact with you to provide you with a start date.
Becoming a genU Business Enterprises crew member will mean you will joining a 200 strong workforce providing products, services and employment across Victoria. You will learn new skills, achieve your goals, earn money and be supported every step of the way.
