genU wants to inspire you to make the most of what you’ve got – so you can redefine your limits.
The Independent Lives program helps you build your independence. We focus on capability building and peer mentoring. We start with a skills assessment so we understand what you can do and what you want to learn in the areas of daily living.
Next, we develop an individualised plan to improve your daily living skills in one-on-one or group-based activities such as:
- Cooking and healthy eating
- Independent living
- Travel training
- Social skills
- Money handling and budgeting
This service aims to reduce isolation by developing social skills, connecting you with local support services including specialist mental health services and government assistance.
