Perth's most iconic fun run still uniting the community

It was another unforgettable day in Perth as almost 29,000 people laced up their runners for the 2025 Chevron City to Surf for Activ, marking the 51st year of Western Australia’s most iconic community event.
From the heart of the CBD to the finish line at the beach, participants of all ages and abilities walked, ran and rolled through the 4km and 12km courses, before soaking up the electric atmosphere at City Beach Oval.

The finish precinct was alive with free rides, delicious eats, live music, Channel 7 personalities, Nova 93.7’s Supernovas, and plenty of family fun. genU Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Michael van Oudtshoorn said the event continues to grow in energy, scale and impact every year.

“After celebrating our 50th last year, we’ve proven again in 2025 that the Chevron City to Surf for Activ is a movement for inclusion and significant positive community impact” Mr van Oudtshoorn said.

“We saw people taking on their first-ever fun run, young kids in matching family tees, wheelchair racers pushing the limits, and long-time legends returning for another lap – all united in making a difference for Western Australians living with disability.”

Funds raised through the 2025 event will once again go directly to improving Western Australian’s living with disability.

“This year marks an exciting new chapter as Activ transitions to genU, but what hasn’t changed is our deep commitment to Western Australians living with disability. Every dollar raised through the 2025 event will continue to go directly to improving lives right here in WA” Mr van Oudtshoorn said.

“We can’t thank our participants, fundraisers, and supporters. Each step you took will help create a brighter future for people with disability in our community, and that’s something every participant can be proud of.”

Chevron Australia Managing Counsel and Team Chevron Captain Peter McNally congratulated genU on another successful event and reflected on the long-standing partnership between the two organisations.

“This year marks 15 years of partnership between Chevron and Activ now known as genU, and we’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve made together over that time,” Mr McNally said. “Since 2010, we’ve seen firsthand the meaningful impact this event and the services genU provides have on the lives of West Australians living with disability.

“The event brings to life our shared values of diversity and inclusion and is embraced by our workforce, with more than 1,630 Team Chevron employees and family members participating and fundraising this year.

“Beyond the event, our partnership continues to support the vital services provided by genU. All participants should be proud of the impact they are making in the lives of others.”
