Reducing the paper trail with purpose

genU’s Business Solutions team gives local business the opportunity to outsource their cumbersome administrative tasks all while giving back – ticking all the boxes.

genU knows first-hand the time and cost that comes with adhering to privacy standards, confidentiality, and policies around information destruction.

Our Shred for U truck, which many would have seen around the streets of Geelong, allows businesses to follow all compliance guidelines for document destruction, without having to manage the process internally and while seeing the direct impact the use of this service brings to Victorians living with disability.

Barwon Health is one local business that relies on genU for its Document Shredding services to ensure all the major health organisation’s document destruction is professionally handled.

Matthew Gardiner, a supported employee at genU Business Enterprises, is often found working hard on the Barwon Health program of work.

Matthew joined genU in October 2023 as a supported employee, seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow, and being part of the solution for Barwon Health’s document shredding is a role he takes seriously, understanding the important nature of the task.

Recognised early for his leadership skills, Matthew was promoted to a supervisory role in May 2024, and soon became one of genU’s most accomplished supervisors – but he still likes to keep busy with manual tasks and help alongside his colleagues.

Always looking to add to his repertoire of skills, Matthew earned his truck license last year – an achievement that allowed him to take the wheel of the genU ‘Shred for U’ truck

genU CEO Clare Amies said supported employees like Matthew were committed to securely and conveniently collecting and shredding documents.

“Our state-of-the-art document destruction truck is NAID* accredited, which allows us to complete the highest level of shredding,” Ms Amies said.

“The ensures our document shredding team is well equipped to ensure your organisation’s sensitive documents are handled professionally.

“We can visit your workplace, collect your documents, and shred them on board the truck, giving you greater peace of mind about our process.

“Our team members also have a real sense of pride that Barwon Health and other local businesses trust them, and they have been given the responsibility of such an important job.”

Ms Amies said this partnership not only ensures secure document disposal but also fosters an inclusive community – empowering supported employees with meaningful work and reinforcing social impact.

“This is making a meaningful difference to the lives of people with disability and demonstrates a strong commitment to social impact and helping advance inclusivity in the workplace,” she said
