You must be aged 18 years and above to become a genU Volunteer.

You will be required to hold a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (relevant to your state of residence), which genU can help you to apply for.

Dependent on your state of residence you may encounter an application fee. This is reimbursable by genU.

Provide referees to comment on your suitability for the role.

The hours and frequency of volunteering can be flexible to suit your schedule.

For example, you could support an isolated senior to have social companionship in their home to brighten their day for an hour on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Alternatively, we have roles of a longer duration too!

We appreciate a six-month commitment for continuity for our clients but work with you to ensure it fits with your life and maintains balance and wellbeing for all.

Here at genU, we’re a group of passionate, driven people who want to make a genuine difference in people’s lives, especially those living with disability, seniors, and those in the community who need support.

  • support important causes
  • fill time in retirement or between study and work

  • learn about different cultures, times, perspectives and ways of life
  • learn new skills.

Additionally, our volunteers:

  • Join a community of volunteers making a difference in your local area.
  • Receive induction and ongoing training relevant to your role to empower you with the knowledge to succeed.
  • Receive ongoing support and recognition throughout your journey.
  • Reimbursement for approved out of pocket expenses. However, we do not cover costs of travel to and from volunteering.
  • Access to genUs Employee Assistance Provider (EAP).
