Disability housing and living

At genU, we firmly believe in the fundamental right of individuals to choose where and with who they live. With this principle at the core of our values, we are dedicated to providing a diverse range of flexible housing and living support options tailored to meet the unique needs of each person. Whether you require short-term respite or are seeking a long-term home, we offer comprehensive support to ensure that everyone can find a safe, comfortable, and empowering living environment.

New to housing and living supports?

Navigating the journey to find housing and tailored supports can feel daunting. It all begins with securing a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan, including Supported Independent Living and/or Specialist Disability Accommodation funding.

NDIS plans are approved by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). To learn more about NDIA plans, visit What is an NDIS plan? | NDIS.

Disability accommodation that feels like home

At genU, we recognise that everyone’s needs are unique. That's why we take the time to understand your goals and guide you through the process. We tailor our supports to your unique goals, connecting you with the right resources and housing solutions.

Our range of accommodation options for people with disability offers residents the opportunity to choose from different living styles and locations based on their lifestyle and support needs.
Our housing and living supports include Specialist Disability Accommodation, Supported Independent Living, Short-Term Accommodation and Affordable Housing.

Our dedicated team has extensive knowledge of disability housing, matched with local experience on the ground.

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports people living with disability to boost their independence at home. It involves paid personal supports such as assistance with personal care, meal preparation and household management tasks.

genU offers a range of SIL options to support you at home in Western Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.

Onsite Shared Support

Our concierge Onsite Shared Support (OSS) model provides access to shared onsite assistance between scheduled in-home support. The model is used in SDA homes with various living arrangements, such as units or apartments, where everyone has their own home, accompanied by access to on-call support onsite across the complex.

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) offers purpose-built disability homes designed for long-term residence.

With flexible floorplans, wide corridors, spacious shared living areas and assistive technology, modern SDA housing caters to your specific needs, enabling you to complete daily living tasks with more independence.

Short-Term Respite (STR)

Short-Term Respite, formerly referred to as Short-Term Accommodation, provides support and accommodation for people when you need to live away from your usual home for a short period of time.

During your stay, your caregivers can also enjoy a break from their duties while ensuring you receive necessary care in a secure, compassionate, and professional setting.

We currently offer Disability STR in Leopold and South Morang.

Medium Term Accommodation

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) gives you a safe, stable place to stay while you’re waiting for your long-term housing to be finalised.

It’s designed to take the pressure off during times of transition, offering comfortable, fully supported living so you can focus on what matters most — settling in, planning ahead and feeling confident about your next steps.

With a genU team that’s here to listen, guide and support you, we help make the move into your permanent home a smoother, more reassuring experience.
