Best seat in the Eastern Hub house

All-round generous support sits well with community pianists at Eastern Hub

It was a team effort to ensure pianists had the best seat in the house when entertaining Eastern Hub Community Centre patrons at Seasons Café.

The Eastern Hub was one of 20 fortunate community venues across Australia chosen for the ABC’s Pop-Up Piano initiative.

After the refurbished piano, donated by Hendry Piano’s, was delivered to the Hub, the call went out to genU community partners seeking a piano stool to complete the set up.

Provincial Media’s Garry Flanigan and Jon Zabiegala, generous genU Inclusions Partners, quickly responded to the request, dropping off a lovely stool amid his busy schedule.

While the stool had been acquired, the efforts weren’t over. The stool needed a new cushion covering before it could take up its position in front of the piano.

In another act of generosity, the Eastern Hub Community sewing group, of Kaarina, Kim and Maise, eagerly accepted the challenge.

Despite having no experience with covering furniture, the trio set to the reupholstery project with gusto, and the stool was soon being put to good use, proudly and comfortably supporting pianists.
