City to Surf goes national, connecting communities across Australia

From the streets of Perth to local tracks and community spaces across Australia, tens of thousands of people came together for the 2026 Chevron City to Surf for genU, making this year's event a truly national celebration of inclusion, connection and community.

Nearly 35,000 people took to the streets of Perth on Sunday for the 2026 Chevron City to Surf for genU, creating an incredible celebration of community, inclusion and purpose.

From seasoned runners chasing a personal best to families walking together, the event once again brought Western Australians together on a journey from the Perth CBD to City Beach.

genU CEO Chelsea Tobin and Chief Financial Officer Kelly Marshall helped officially launch the day, each taking a turn on the starters' horn alongside representatives from Chevron to set the crowds in motion for a good cause.

genU CEO Chelsea Tobin and Chevron Australia Managing Director and President Balaji Krishnamurthy officially kick off the City to Surf in Perth.

While some tried to set a personal record, others made the most of the event to enjoy a car-free CBD while catching up with friends and family and raise funds for a good cause along the way.

Funds raised through Chevron City to Surf for genU will support accessibility upgrades in homes across Australia, helping people living with disability achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life.

The Chevron City to Surf for genU is all about building inclusive communities.

The atmosphere was electric, with a sea of colourful event shirts, costumes, smiles and determination filling the course. Runners crossed the finish line to enjoy live entertainment, family activities, food and celebrations at City Beach Oval.

With plenty of media interest on the day and even a 7 News photo booth on site, event shirts and finisher medals were proudly worn throughout the day, with smiles stretching almost as far as the track itself.

The annual fundraising event is more than just a run, with plenty happening after participants cross the finish line.

While Perth was the centre of the action and enjoying the first signs of spring, WA’s iconic event was only part of a national story. In 2026, Chevron City to Surf for genU expanded beyond Western Australia for the first time, with local events taking place in communities across the country.

One national event. Communities nationwide.

From Geelong and Warrnambool to Hobart, Launceston, Geraldton and Karratha, people came together to walk, run and roll in support of people living with disability.

One of the standout celebrations took place at the Corio Athletics Track in Geelong, where more than 250 genU clients, staff and community members completed their own local 4km City to Surf event.

The day featured much more than exercise. Participants enjoyed music, dancing, a community barbecue and plenty of opportunities to connect and celebrate together.

Ahead of the Perth event, hundreds of people in Geelong gathered to celebrate Australia's longest-running fun run in their own community.
