Client profile - Meet Shannon, Connections TV star

Participant Spotlight: Shannon always on the ball!

Meet Shannon — a dynamic and passionate member of the Connections Media crew who continues to inspire through his commitment to community, connection, and conversation.

Shannon plays a key role in Connections TV, a weekly Zoom show born during the isolation of COVID-19.

What started as a way to bring people together has grown into a thriving platform that continues to run strong every week – and Shannon is at the heart of it.

Whether he’s chatting with fellow participants or diving into lively discussions about his favourite topic – sports – Shannon brings energy, curiosity, and connection to every episode, and his constant companion, a beaming smile.

Regular on the airwaves

As a member of Connections Media, Shannon thrives on storytelling.

He regularly seeks out new people to interview and is in his element asking them about their interests and hobbies.

This genuine curiosity has led to some incredible interviews alongside his host, Ryan – including Ella George (Member for Lara), Owen McCloskey (former Melbourne Victory player), and Steven King from K-Rock’s The Footy Show.

Every Tuesday, you’ll also hear Shannon on High Time Radio, where he blends his love for media, music, and sports into lively on-air segments and meaningful chats.

As a massive Geelong Cats supporter, Shannon participates in two footy tipping competitions, loves footy banter and proudly talking about the Cats’ success.

With the support of genU, Shannon has become involved in programs that truly align with his goals and passions, especially in the areas of media, sport, and community engagement.

These opportunities have helped him grow his confidence and continue doing what he loves most – connecting with others.

Finger in many pies

Outside genU, Shannon is also actively involved in the wider community.

He recently took part in Laps for Life, raising awareness and funds for youth mental health and suicide prevention – a cause close to his heart.

He’s been a proud supporter of Pink Ribbon Day through his involvement with the Thomson Football and Netball Club, showing his dedication to breast cancer awareness and local community spirit.

With a big heart, a sharp mind for sport, and a true passion for people, Shannon continues to shine across everything he does — both on screen and in the community.

He is a keen member of genU’s Thursday Leadership and Advocacy program, which participated in Laps for Life and the Biggest morning tea at the Eastern Hub.

To round out a busy week with genU, Shannon loves cooking on Fridays to improve his cooking skills. Importantly, he can use these skills at home to cook his favourite dishes for his family to enjoy.

Speak to our Connect team today, so we can build a unique capacity building program like Shannon.
