National Carers Week

National Carers Week is an important opportunity for genU to recognise the contribution of unpaid carers and the care, time and commitment they give to others.

Carers play a vital role in the lives of people with disability, older people and those with ongoing support needs, but their own wellbeing can sometimes take a back seat. This week gives us an opportunity to thank carers, hear their experiences and remind them that support is available for them too.

Through genU’s Support for Carers program, we create opportunities for carers to take a break, connect with others and access information and support. From wellbeing activities and social gatherings to counselling and learning opportunities, our National Carers Week events put carers at the centre. For genU, it’s about recognising the person behind the caring role and helping them feel valued, connected and supported beyond the week itself.

The genU National Carers Week 2026 events run from 11–17 October, with local activities and two online information sessions.
