Record turnout for biggest ever genU event in regional WA
Nearly 1,000 people came together in Karratha to walk, jog, run and roll in support of people living with disability, marking a record-breaking start to the 2026 Chevron City to Surf for genU season.
The biggest-ever regional event drew participants of all ages and abilities from across the Pilbara, creating an unforgettable morning of community spirit, inclusion and local pride while raising funds for a worthy cause.
From the first participants crossing the start line to the final finishers celebrating their achievements, whether tackling the 4 km or 12 km course, the atmosphere reflected the strong community support that continues to grow around Chevron City to Surf for genU in regional Western Australia.
The event was made possible through the generous support of Chevron Australia, together with the City of Karratha, 7NEWS Australia, Nu-Pure Beverages, The Good Grocer, and the many volunteers, fundraisers, suppliers and local organisations who contributed their time, resources and enthusiasm throughout the day.
genU extends its sincere thanks to everyone who registered, fundraised, volunteered, donated or cheered from the sidelines. Every contribution helped make this record-breaking event possible while supporting more inclusive communities across Western Australia.
Following the successful season opener in Karratha in late July, attention now turns to the flagship Chevron City to Surf for genU event in Perth on Saturday 30 August.
Whether you're an experienced runner or roller, simply looking to enjoy a walk with family and friends, or have a cause close to your heart, there's an event for everyone. Participants can choose from a range of distances while helping raise funds to support people with disability.
Those unable to attend in person can still get involved by joining the virtual event and completing their chosen distance from anywhere in Australia.
