Featured Volunteer Opportunity – Social Support Home Visiting
If you are compassionate, friendly, and want to make a positive difference to your local community across the Barwon or the Mornington Peninsula Region, we want to hear from you!
genU’s Social Support Home Visiting Program aims to support frail older people, to have increased social participation and access to the community.
Our team of friendly volunteers provide one-on-one social visiting, in the home environment, to an elderly person experiencing social isolation.
At times, transport to the local community is included in the service where you could support your client to visit their local library to select a new book or accompany them on short walk in their local park. We will match you with an elderly community member based on your shared interests, location and life experiences to help build a positive connection. Hours are flexible and bite-sized (approximately 2 hours a week), during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 5:00pm.
If this sounds like you, please register to join our Social Support Home Visiting Program!
Apply here or contact our welcoming Volunteers Programs team on 03 5282 0038 or volunteers@genu.org.au to discuss how to get involved!
Volunteers are an important part of our team
Compassionate. Patient. Empathetic. These words describe our team of 450+ innovative volunteers who engage in over 100 different activities every week, fulfilling the genU vision of building inclusive communities.
We’ll match your interests, skills and experience to an activity, so we can make it count for you and the community. You will have the opportunity to connect with our clients and services across early learning, youth programs, leisure and life skills, training and education, respite for carers, social supports and residential services, in a way that places the client at the heart of everything we do.
As a volunteer, you’ll be welcomed into genU’s friendly and inclusive workplace. You’ll also have ongoing support and training throughout your journey, and the opportunity for flexible hours.
