Who you’ll be supporting

People of all ages living with a disability, mental illness, isolation and increasing age-related frailty.

What you’ll be doing

Opportunities for volunteers are varied and include assisting childcare, education and training, allied health, leisure and lifestyle, pet therapy, art and music therapy, animal care, retail nurseries, business enterprises, community access as well as providing social respite and companionship.

Where you’ll volunteer

Our volunteers support our childcare, all-ability, and aged care services and programs in the Victorian areas of Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula, Werribee, Mornington Peninsula and some areas of metropolitan Melbourne including Northcote, Thornbury and Reservoir.

We also have virtual volunteering where volunteers connect with clients and build inclusion from afar. Our virtual volunteers are located across Australia and support socially isolated clients through services such as The Letter Project, Pen-Pal, Voice-Chat and Video-Connect.

Whether you are located nearby to support clients in person, or you are reaching out virtually, we welcome you to join our incredible volunteer community and make a positive impact.

Volunteers are an important part of our team

Compassionate. Patient. Empathetic. These words describe our team of 450+ innovative volunteers who engage in over 100 different activities every week, fulfilling the genU vision of building inclusive communities.

We’ll match your interests, skills and experience to an activity, so we can make it count for you and the community. You will have the opportunity to connect with our clients and services across early learning, youth programs, leisure and life skills, training and education, respite for carers, social supports and residential services, in a way that places the client at the heart of everything we do.

As a volunteer, you’ll be welcomed into genU’s friendly and inclusive workplace. You’ll also have ongoing support and training throughout your journey, and the opportunity for flexible hours.
